Hello Charlotte Woodcarvers;

merry christmasI would to remind all club members that our Holiday Party is scheduled for December 3, 2019. As is customary, we will meet at the Carmel Presbyterian Church at 5:30 and serve dinner at 6:00. We would like for those participating to bring a side dish enough to serve their family and 2 others. The Club will be furnishing the meat and dessert. Please bring whatever carvings you are working on, whether they are completed or not, for display. Finally, if you have any carving related items such as wood, tools, books or carvings that you would like to donate for the Holiday Party door prizes, please get them to me by the end of November.
October has been a busy month with carving classes and carving demonstrations. Many thanks to those who came out and carved at the Matthew’s Farmers Market and the Waxhaw Autumn Treasures Arts and Craft Festival. Neil McGuire will conduct a 1 day session on chip carving and Bubba Mullis will do a class on using India ink as a finishing method. The Board wants to encourage our own very talented members to conduct classes on every aspect of carving from layout to finishing. We are very fortunate to have such a large group of carvers who are willing to share their talents. If you have any ideas for future educational sessions please contact Marcy Chirdon and let her know what you would like to see.
The annual Club elections are coming in December and the Club needs carvers to fill all the positions, President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and 1 Board member for the coming year. In order to continue as a viable and progressive woodcarving club we need fresh ideas and members willing to devote time to make things happen. None of the aforementioned offices are difficult to perform, we just need individuals willing to serve.
Our Show is only 4 months away with some major holidays between now and then. Time is growing short so I would encourage you to begin putting the final touches on your projects. Don’t be like me and wait until the week before the show and have all the painting and finishing to do at one time. PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE SHOW. Even if you are undecided about what to enter, register now and get a registration number. Click to register online.

If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not to people or things.
