Happy Thanksgiving

November is loosing its importance. Sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas, we are increasing Halloween and diminishing Thanksgiving. We tend to forget the sacrifice and bravery those few who sailed in small ships to an unknown land. We forget that they lost half, 50%, of their companions before they left the Mayflower. And what for? For freedom to worship as their conscience dictated. As you enter Plymouth, MA, the sign reads “Welcome to America’s Home Town”.
We have much to be thankful for.

Due to the times, the board thought it prudent to continue in 2021 with the with our current officers, and skip the election this year. As such, the board voted unanimously to pass a motion to that effect. The current officers are:

• Neil McGuire, president
• Tom Bowling, secretary
• Rich DiFranco, treasurer
• Bill Robinson, board member
• Wahoo McDaniel, board member
• Mary Phelps was our vice president, however she resigned in October due to a continuing schedule conflict.
• When Marcy resigned and moved away, Rich moved from his board member position to treasurer, leaving us 1 board member short.

So we will continue as is until December 2021. Until then, if you would like to volunteer for one of the vacant positions, please let me know.

I am sure you got the word that the Christmas Program was cancelled for this year. The final stab in the back this pandemic has for us this year, and hopefully next as well. With the good news of a vaccine on the way to approval, we can have hope that the Showcase of Woodcarvings 2021 edition will take place.

The next calendar event will be Kevin Applegate caricature carving class. He has some great rough-outs available on his website 2nd Alarm Woodcarving. He will be with us on January 21-23, 2021. I am looking forward to the class. If you are interested, the cost is $130 plus rough outs. Please let me know, and I will put you on the list. I need a down payment by December 15, 2020.
