Greetings Fellow Woodcarvers

April started off busy with the new carvers finishing up their carving instructions. On April 20, 2019 several members of our club assisted local Boy Scouts to earn their Woodcarving Merit Badge. Many thanks to the club members that helped with the preparation and to those who participated in the carving instruction. We certainly enjoyed having the scouts and I hope we can continue to work with them in the future.
On May 18, 2019 we will once again be demonstrating woodcarving at the Matthews Farmer’s Market. This has always been a “fun” activity for our club members and usually generates a lot of questions and interest from the public.
On July 9, 2019 we will have our annual summer picnic at Carmel Church at 5:30. The club will provide the meat and dessert and we ask our members to bring a side dish to feed their guests and 2 others. Please bring your carvings to show and if you have any items to donate for a raffle let me know ASAP.
In August we will be visiting Wildacres for a week of carving instruction, fellowship, beautiful scenery and good food. If you have any interest in attending this event, either now or in the future and you would like additional information, please contact Rod Gatlin.
Challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful!

Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope you all have had a good holiday and were able to spend some quality time with family and friends. Now that the holiday season is over it is time to direct our attention to our wood carving show. First, I would encourage you to register for the Show and at the same time, pay dues for 2019. Second, it’s time to get your carvings ready for the Show. Finally, please volunteer to help. We need your time and talents to make this project a success.Bob Warner has been selling raffle tickets and he is encouraging everyone to buy early and often. Bubba Mullis is selling the John C. Campbell raffle tickets. I would like to see each member buy/sell at least 5 tickets. The John C. Campbell Folk School has been around for over 90 years teaching folk arts and crafts. There is something at the school for everyone. If you ever wanted to start a hobby or improve your skills, this is the place to do it. No matter what your interests are they will probably have a class with outstanding instructors.
Greetings Woodcarvers!!!
The year is rapidly coming to a close and before we know it, it will time for the Show. I hope everyone is working on their Show entries and planning a carving for the theme as well. I know there are many demands for our time as the holidays approach but please take time to register for the Show and pay your dues for the upcoming year. I know our club treasurer would appreciate as many as possible complete the registration form so he can assign a carver number. Early registration will make his job a lot easier as we approach the Show date.

The club still has T-shirts, hats, polo shirts and club badges for sale. Please contact Joe Davis if you are interested in purchasing any club apparel.
Congratulations to our club members who recently participated in the Hickory, NC and the Ohio Artistry in Wood carving shows. The Charlotte Woodcarvers Club was well represented and won numerous ribbons. I am constantly amazed at the creativity and artistry our club members exhibit.
I hope you all have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
