Hello Carvers
Let's begin this newsletter looking back at July before looking forward to August and beyond and hopefully to cooler temps.
It is always pleasant to get together at our Summer Celebration and spend time with the wives and husbands of the carvers we see all year. Thanks for all the side dishes and desserts you brought with you. As always thanks to Judy and Bill Dominick for getting the main course and supplies and organizing the kitchen, buffet tables, and cleanup. Thanks also to Bill for
donating extra door prizes to add to the gift certificates the Club purchased. Bill Robinson would like to thank all that contributed to Loaves and Fishes. Finally, thanks to all who brought carvings for Show-N-Tel, a feature we will do more of at carving meetings this year as suggested in our Idea Box by Ted Appel.
Also in July was a Bill Johnson chip carving class organized first by Jim Horn and then Neil McGuire. I'm sure Neil will report on that class and have photos of both July events in this newsletter.
Hello Carvers
As I write this newsletter the TV is warning of heavy rain and flooding. The temperature has fallen 20 degrees to 74 degrees. Tomorrow, kids are starting school and on Tuesday the parking lot at carving will be full. Hopefully, the long hot summer is over, and September will be starting.
September means business at the club will return after taking a break for July and August and giving us all a chance to recharge our batteries and just carve. So meetings begin again on Tuesday, September 12th with the first Board meeting at 1 pm. Tuesday, September 19th will be the first 2024 Showcase meeting and Tuesday, September 26th will be the first General Membership meeting, and a Show-N-Tel. All meetings will be at 1 pm.
I was at the Parks and Recreation facility near my home and saw a club advertisement on the bulletin board. I checked them out and have been a member ever since.
A friend in the neighborhood invited me to a meeting. Now Tuesdays don't quite feel right if I miss a meeting.
I attended a Showcase where someone at the membership table encouraged me to join. A member since 2015
After attending the showcase several times and nearing retirement, I joined the club. My first show yielded several ribbons!
A former member invited me 20+ years ago, and I joined. Life got in the way and carving was put aside, but my interest has sparked again recently.
